Basic book

Honestly, I expected more of a deeper insights of how to use Vaadin. The things in the book can to a large extent be found in the book of vaadin (free online). Also, Learning Vaadin (the book) is project-oriented and more in depth, so it was for me a good book.
I would suggest that the publisher does Google Books Preview, so that people who get interested in learning the basics might be interested in knowing this book.

Great and precise content for Developers.

I really appreciate Casey's work in this book. it does not have unnecessary and extended story like content, and the organization is as simple as it can get.
The whole book, consists of problem statements with solution. Problems of same topic, are grouped together into a relevant chapter and thus provides a learning path, with the basics in initial chapters to more advanced features of data binding, bean allocation, binding and beanitem usage at the end.
If you are already a java developer like me, who has experience in swing, awt and the normal event driven programming model, than you surely would not like to go through extensive theory and long reading stretches of other books for vaadin.
this books gets you going quickly and efficiently, by directly giving solutions and ways of making it work in vaadin.
on the contrary,if you are a novice, then surely this does not help as your first book. this will be useful after you have acquainted yourself with the basics of the trade.
