About the Author
Edward Morgan (E.M.) Forster was born in 1879 in London and educated in Cambridge. After graduating, he traveled to Greece and Italy. The Story of a Panic was his first short story and was published in 1904. Forster taught in Germany and England. His first novel was Where Angels Fear to Tread, published in 1905. Forster joined the International Red Cross at the outbreak of World War I and was posted in Alexandria until 1919. In 1924, he published A Passage To India. He refused knighthood but was awarded the Order of Merit in 1969. He died in 1970.

This critical edition brings back the 1936 collection of essays by E. M. Forster. The collection aimed at representing the variety of Forster's interest and the purpose is fully achieved - we move from commentary on current political situation, literature both classical and contemporary, history of art and numerous subjects that Forster took fancy to from the beginning of the 20th century until mid-1930s.
The critical value of the volume lies in its careful editing - collating British and American edition as well as the surviving manuscripts and supplementing them with notes. There is also a double bonus for the reader. This is the first edition which brings back the essay "Flood in the Office" suppressed in the original edition (and for the publication of which Forster was sued for libel and had to pay £750 fine) and adds one more pageant, "England's Pleasant Land", fairly difficult to access as previously it was published only once in 1940.

My Wood

I've only read this one essay from Abinger Harvest. The essay is "My Wood." I highly encourage everyone to read this essay. Forster reflects on materialism vs ownership in and intriguing and amusing way. The essay is also chock-full of wonderful literary allusions. I took an advanced writing course at university and one of the assignments was to track down the sources of these allusions. It was both fun and educational. Cool stuff.

a must-have for any Mario fan

Mario Mania is a strategy guide for Super Mario World that was given to Nintendo Power subscribers. I remember seeing the ad for Nintendo Power many years ago and telling my mother that I wanted to get the magazine. Mom thought it was silly to subscribe to Nintendo Power just for a free gift, so she obviously said no. I eventually forgot this book even existed.

Fast forward 15 years later. I was looking around eBay for collectible game guides when I saw someone had this book for sale. The price was relatively low compared to what other sellers were asking for, so I bought the book. Despite being over 20 years old, Mario Mania still contains a trove of relevant information. It covers game mechanics in great detail and numerous tricks that were only rediscovered through years of gameplay. This is certainly a book that I would recommend to anyone that enjoys playing Super Mario World.

The only downside is that the book is pretty expensive these days - be prepared to pay at least $10.00 plus shipping for it - but that won't figure into the rating as Mario Mania is essentially a rare item these days.

About the Author
Brad Wilcox is an associate professor at Brigham Young University where he also works with such programs as Especially for Youth and Campus Education Week. Fantastic Advice!

Marriage and family can be difficult, and most people can agree on that. It rarely turns out to be the fairy tale many of us imagine it to be. This book offers helpful and practical ways to make your home life peaceful and generally happy. Life can more closely resemble those things we most desire.

I thought this was a really good book. The advice is well thought out and very practical for almost everyone. Sometimes I would find myself wondering why I wasn't doing some of these things already. They just made so much sense. Each chapter begins with an active way to improve things, and then the chapter goes on to explain what this means and how to go about it. Much of the advice comes down to prioritizing the things you want in live and learning to truly love your family. It sounds fairly simple when written like this, but I think we all know that it is much more complex. I thought the book made a brilliant point in that any kind of life can be difficult. If we want something to be different, we should remember that in fact life wouldn't be any easier. There will always be things we have to work through, so we really need to learn to love our life as it is while recognizing that there are always things to improve and work on. I was inspired by this book to really focus on the big picture of my family and not get so hung up on the details. This is a book that will help people to refocus on the important parts of their family and ultimately have a much better life.

Despite having already 'raised' my two older kids, this gem of a book is still well worth the read. Definitely something I can turn to when I need batch of fresh ideas or even just a parental pick-me-up. Another plus is that this is not some giant tome that will forever sit on the bookshelf of good intentions; the formatting keeps the subjects in an easy-to-flip to order, as well as the paragraph to two of content per subject is just right for busy parents who don't have a whole lot of discretionary time.

This book is a must-read for all parents! I'm not a parent yet, but I've always been interested in the "secret" to parenting because I'm anxious about how to raise my future children. Thinking ahead can never hurt, right? Well, I read this book, and I loved it! The stories are fun as well as touching. I believe that any parent that implements these principles can create better relationships with his or her children. I am excited to try them out on my own children someday. I especially like the Principles of Action at the end of the chapters; they give me something to do to improve and discover about myself, especially in dealing with my family.

“You realize, of course,” said The Ace, slowly unscrewing the vial's black plastic cap, “the only reason I'm giving you this is because it means I get some, too.”
“Toot! Toot!” chirped The Kid.
The Ace dug some white powder out of the vial with the cokespoon attachment on his Swiss Army knife, leaned over, held it directly below The Kid’s left nostril.
“Bombs away.”
The Kid inhaled sharply through his nose. The white powder disappeared.
“Toot! Toot!” chirped The Kid.
“Toot-toot to you, too,” The Ace toasted, doing up a spoonful himself.”
“Toot! Toot!” The Kid exclaimed. “Toot! Toot!
“All right already,” said The Ace, holding another heaping cokespoon beneath The Kid’s right nostril: “Fire two.”
The Kid inhaled sharply through his nose again. The cocaine disappeared.
“Toot! Toot!” The Kid chirped merrily.
“You sound like some kinda bird,” said The Ace, doing up another spoonful, recapping the vial.
“A Coke-A-Toot.”
“Ah, yesss...” went The Ace like W.C. Fields, pretending he was tapping an ash off the glass vial. "Whilst exploring through the Estonian Mountains... My companions and I discovered a rookery of the rare, tropical Colombian Coke-A-Toot.” We recognized it immediately by the size of its beak, its deviated septum, and of course, its unmistakable mating call...”
“Toot! Toot!” chirped The Kid.
“It was delicious... Under glass....”
The Kid glanced across his instrument panel, then back out through the windshield. The sky was starting to lighten up, approaching dawn. Last night, they’d been going west, into the setting sun. Now they were returning, heading east, into the rising sun.
That sounded like a good excuse to get high.
“More drugs.” announced The Kid.”
“More drugs?” said The Ace.
“More drugs,” The Kid declared.
The Ace reached into the flight bag between their seats, pulled out a plastic baggie of marijuana containing enough fine, dusty powder to roll maybe one skinny little joint that wouldn't burn right.
“All gone.” said The Ace, holding the baggie out.
“Well!” huffed The Kid, frowning, “This is another fine mess you got us into!”
The Ace drew his face out like Stan Laurel, fingered the top of his head.
“Why don't I get some more?” The Ace suggested, playing with an imaginary tie.
Sliding out of the co-pilot's seat The Ace lurched through the passage from the cockpit into the cargo compartment of the Flying Joint, loaded with burlap sacks.
The Ace tore a sack open, reached inside, broke a chunk off a 50 pound bale of marijuana, then lurched back into the cockpit, opened the Flying Joint’s log book in his lap, began to clean the pot: picking out the stems, stripping them between his fingers, crushing the buds, rolling out all the little seeds.
The Kid kept glancing over.
The Ace took out a pack of cigarette papers, pealed off five. One by one he folded the bottom half, then took out his Swiss Army knife, unfolded the tiny scissors, started snipping off the ungummed corner of each paper.
“Would you just roll a joint!” The Kid erupted.
“What?”
“Why can't you roll joints like normal people? No! You gotta be Picasso! We’re just gonna burn the motherfucker!”
The Ace motioned for silence. “Look...” he explained, “as long as I'm part of the drug culture, I’m gonna have a little drug culture.”
“If you want cut corners, why don't you buy the papers with the corners cut?”
“At least my joints don't look like beached whales,” snapped The Ace.
“I just wanna smoke a reefer,” said The Kid. “That's all. I just wanna get high. Is that too much to ask?”

This manual comes unbound and 3 hole punched. The holes are punched very close to the edge of the paper which makes the pages extremely easy to accidentally tear out even when carefully turning pages. The holes also eliminate the option of having the pages spiral bound, which would be a great option for this book. No matter the convenience and quality of the book, I need it for class. So I'll suck it up and pay almost $80 for a pack of loose leaf sheets of paper.

Really deatailed atlas. For my four hundred level comparative anatomy course I loved this book. The labeled color photos were spot on and pretty easy to follow most of time, however the text gives a fantastic road map to aid in locating small anatomical features. We did the pampered, shark, mudpuppy and cat. The cat was the only I had to use text descriptions to help find some of the more tricky features.
Overall, I think it's a great book and it should definitely help with you anatomy knowledge and applications.
